ALISBY WEDDING FILMS · BATH & SOMERSET
Wedding Videographer Bath & Somerset
Discreet digital and genuine Super 8 wedding films for Bath, Somerset and celebrations across the South West — from Georgian city weddings to country-house weekends and private estates.
THE APPROACH
Bath and Somerset give a wedding room to become its own thing
A Bath wedding can begin among Georgian streets and historic interiors, while a Somerset celebration may take over a country house for an entire weekend. The setting changes the rhythm of the day, so the film should respond to the people, place and atmosphere rather than forcing every wedding into the same formula.
Alisby works in an observational way: careful planning before the wedding, a low-profile presence on the day and an edit built around the people, voices and atmosphere that were actually there.
The aim is not to manufacture moments for camera. It is to notice the ones worth keeping.
FILMING BATH & SOMERSET
Georgian Bath, private estates and long country-house weekends.
The character of the day changes with the setting, so the filming approach needs to change with it.
Bath city
Bath stone, Georgian streets, historic interiors and elegant hotels create a very recognisable setting. The best approach is to let the city appear naturally in the film rather than turning the wedding into a tour of landmarks.
Frome, the Mendips & private estates
Somerset’s country houses and private estates often allow much more of the celebration to happen in one place. Preparations, ceremony, dinner and the following morning can all become part of the same story without the wedding constantly moving between venues.
South & West Somerset
Large houses, parkland, formal gardens and estates towards Yeovil, the Quantocks and the western side of the county create a different scale again. These weddings often reward slower observation and a film that has space for the setting as well as the people.
FROM THE ARCHIVE
Selected Stories
Natural, story-led wedding films shaped around the people, place and atmosphere.
BATH AS A DESTINATION
A wedding weekend rather than a single venue booking
Bath works particularly well for couples bringing guests in for more than the wedding day itself. Hotels, restaurants, historic streets and nearby country venues make it possible to build a weekend around welcome drinks, the ceremony, dinner and a slower following day without everything feeling like one long production schedule.
The same is true across Somerset. A country-house celebration can feel completely self-contained, with guests staying nearby and the pace changing naturally over two or three days. Coverage can be shaped around that rhythm when the wedding calls for it.
VENUES & SETTINGS
Some of the strongest wedding settings in Bath and Somerset
The region has a particularly strong collection of country houses, private estates and historic city venues. These are the sort of places where the setting adds something to the film without needing to dominate it.
Babington House
Near Frome, Babington House combines a country-house setting with accommodation, grounds and the sort of relaxed weekend atmosphere that suits couples who want guests to settle in rather than arrive for a few formal hours. It lends itself naturally to multi-day coverage without the film needing to feel over-produced.
North Cadbury Court
A privately owned country house in Somerset with formal rooms, gardens and accommodation, North Cadbury Court suits weddings that take over the house rather than simply hire a function room. The mix of indoor and outdoor spaces gives the day room to move without repeatedly leaving the estate.
Brympton House
Near Yeovil, Brympton House brings together a historic house, gardens and several very different reception spaces. It can move from formal ceremony to a much looser evening without the film having to manufacture that change in mood.
HOW ALISBY WORKS
Present for the moments. Never running the wedding.
Timings, access and the practical details are agreed before the day. During the wedding, filming stays calm and observational. Professional sound is placed discreetly for the moments where voices matter; compact cameras keep the footprint small.
Afterwards, the footage is edited in-house around pacing, sound, relationships and the small details that give the celebration its personality.
Quiet confidence
01 — Planning with the venue, planner and photographer where useful.
02 — Discreet cameras and professional sound.
03 — Digital films and genuine Super 8 where it suits the commission.
04 — Coverage scaled to the wedding rather than a default large crew.
05 — Bath, Somerset, UK and destination commissions.
EXPERIENCE WITHOUT THE PERFORMANCE
Useful experience is the kind you barely notice on the day
Since 2009
Alisby has worked professionally for well over a decade, from intimate celebrations to large events and destination commissions.
Discretion when required
Alisby has experience working where additional privacy or NDA arrangements are required. It is handled quietly when relevant rather than treated as a separate style of coverage.
Small when possible
Many weddings do not need a large crew. Additional filmmakers, photography or specialist coverage can be added when the scale of the celebration genuinely calls for it.
GENUINE SUPER 8
Analogue because it behaves differently — not because a filter says so
Alisby shoots real Super 8 motion-picture film. It can be woven into a digital wedding film or used for a separate short piece.
The attraction is not fake nostalgia. Super 8 reacts differently to movement, light and exposure. Grain, softness and the occasional imperfection give certain moments a physical quality that clean digital footage cannot reproduce.
For couples who want both, digital coverage preserves the voices and fuller story while Super 8 contributes its own texture.
ON THE DAY
Low-profile coverage, properly coordinated
A wedding already has enough moving parts. Filming should not add another one. Timings, access and sound are planned beforehand so the cameras can stay out of the way when the day begins.
Alisby works alongside the photographer, planner and venue team where useful. When something needs coordinating, it happens quietly in the background rather than becoming part of the wedding.
PLANNING A BATH & SOMERSET WEDDING FILM
The practical details that make the creative work possible
City streets or country lanes
Bath traffic, limited city-centre access and longer journeys between Somerset venues can all affect the schedule. If preparations, ceremony and reception are in different places, realistic travel is planned into the coverage rather than discovered on the wedding day.
Sound first
Beautiful pictures cannot rescue vows or speeches that were never recorded properly. Important spoken moments are treated as part of the story, not an afterthought.
Historic houses & estates
Listed buildings, private houses, hotels and estates can have their own rules around access, lighting, tripods, drones or where suppliers can work. Those details are dealt with early so they do not become part of the wedding day.
THE COMMISSION
Simple before the wedding. Invisible during it.
01 · Tell us the plan
Send the date, venue or locations and enough detail to understand the celebration.
02 · Talk it through
If it looks like a good fit, the coverage and any Super 8 or multi-day requirements are agreed clearly.
03 · Film the wedding
The day is observed rather than directed, with coordination happening quietly in the background.
04 · Build the film
The edit is shaped around what happened, with attention to voices, timing, music and the personalities in the room.
COLLECTIONS
Coverage shaped around the wedding
Alisby offers digital wedding films, genuine Super 8 and combinations of the two, with additional coverage available where the scale or schedule of the celebration calls for it.
The current collections set out the available options and investment without turning the wedding into a shopping list of camera hours.
If the work feels right for what you are planning, view the current collections or get in touch.
BESPOKE WHEN NEEDED
Not every wedding fits the same shape
Multi-day celebrations, destination travel, additional filmmakers and analogue coverage can be built around the wedding rather than squeezed into a fixed list of hours and extras.
THE SETTING WITHOUT THE SALES PITCH
A beautiful venue helps. It still has to feel like your wedding.
St Audries Park
On the western side of Somerset, St Audries Park offers the scale of a country estate with grounds and a strong sense of arrival. A venue like this gives the film plenty of visual range, but the people and the atmosphere still have to lead it.
Bath’s Royal Crescent & Roman Baths
For couples who want the city itself to be unmistakable, the Royal Crescent and the Roman Baths/Pump Room end of Bath offer a completely different experience from a Somerset estate. The architecture can carry enormous visual weight without needing to turn the couple into extras in a location shoot.
