A destination wedding often brings more moving parts: flights, planners, welcome dinners, boats, transfers, unfamiliar venues and guests arriving from several countries. Alisby handles the practical side early so the film can stay focused on the people, place and atmosphere rather than turning the wedding into a production.
Alisby works in an observational way: careful planning before the wedding, a low-profile presence on the day and an edit built around the people, voices and atmosphere that were actually there.
The aim is not to manufacture moments for camera. It is to notice the ones worth keeping.

Italy
Lake Como, Tuscany, the Amalfi Coast, Venice and Puglia can involve villas, boats, long dinners and celebrations spread over several days. The film should take in the setting without reducing the wedding to a sequence of postcard shots.
France
Paris, Provence and the Riviera each have a completely different rhythm. From châteaux and private estates to city hotels and Mediterranean celebrations, the filming plan changes with the place rather than forcing every wedding into the same shape.
Switzerland & beyond
Lakeside hotels, Alpine resorts, Scottish estates and Channel Island celebrations bring very different logistics and weather. Those things are planned properly, then allowed to disappear once the wedding begins.

DESTINATION WITHOUT THE DRAMA
Travelling for a wedding is normal. Making it feel complicated is optional.
Alisby works from the UK and travels for destination weddings across Europe. Flights, trains, hire cars, transfers and accommodation are simply part of the planning. The aim is to arrive early enough to understand the venue and be ready before the wedding needs anything from the camera team.
Where a planner is involved, timings and access can be coordinated directly with them. Where there is no planner, the same details are worked through with the couple and venue. Either way, the travel should be the filmmaker’s problem, not yours.
MORE THAN THE WEDDING DAY
Destination weddings often make more sense as a story across two or three days
When guests have travelled to be together, the evening before and the day after can matter as much as the formal schedule. Welcome drinks, a rehearsal dinner, the wedding itself and a slower lunch or swim the following day can each add something different to the finished film.
That does not mean filming every hour simply because it is there. Coverage is widened where the extra time gives the story something useful — arrivals, dinner the night before, a boat trip, a late party or the morning after — while still keeping the cameras out of the way.
For international guest lists, that broader approach often makes more sense than squeezing the whole experience into a film built only around the ceremony and speeches.
VENUES & SETTINGS
Places where the setting is already doing enough
Some destination venues have such a strong identity that the film does not need to decorate them. The better approach is to understand the space, work with it and keep the wedding itself at the centre.
Villa del Balbianello · Lake Como
A lakeside villa with gardens and terraces directly above the water, Balbianello is a setting that already carries enormous visual weight. Boats, access windows and movement around the lake need planning; the couple should not have to feel any of that on the day.
Château de La Messardière · Saint-Tropez
A hilltop château above Saint-Tropez with gardens, accommodation and Mediterranean views, La Messardière suits destination celebrations where guests remain close to the wedding for more than one day. The surroundings need very little help from the camera.
Badrutt’s Palace · St. Moritz
Historic interiors and the Engadin landscape give Badrutt’s Palace a very different kind of scale. It is the sort of destination where the practical planning can be substantial while the filming itself should remain quiet and uncomplicated.

Alisby has experience working where additional privacy or NDA arrangements are required. It is handled quietly when relevant rather than treated as a separate style of coverage.

Many weddings do not need a large crew. Additional filmmakers, photography or specialist coverage can be added when the scale of the celebration genuinely calls for it.
GENUINE SUPER 8
Analogue because it behaves differently — not because a filter says so
Alisby shoots real Super 8 motion-picture film. It can be woven into a digital wedding film or used for a separate short piece.
The attraction is not fake nostalgia. Super 8 reacts differently to movement, light and exposure. Grain, softness and the occasional imperfection give certain moments a physical quality that clean digital footage cannot reproduce.
For couples who want both, digital coverage preserves the voices and fuller story while Super 8 contributes its own texture.
ON THE DAY
Low-profile coverage, properly coordinated
A wedding already has enough moving parts. Filming should not add another one. Timings, access and sound are planned beforehand so the cameras can stay out of the way when the day begins.

Arrival time is based on the actual schedule, venue location and transport options — not the cheapest flight that happens to land nearby. Where sensible, Alisby arrives the day before so delays do not become part of the wedding.
The bits you’ll want to hear again
Vows, speeches, laughter and the odd comment nobody realised had been picked up can become some of the best parts of the film. The soundtrack comes from the wedding itself, not just the music added afterwards.
Planners, venues & local teams
Access, ceremony restrictions, transport, sound, lighting and supplier movement can all work differently abroad. Those details are handled with the planner, venue and local team before they become part of the wedding day.
