ALISBY WEDDING FILMS · JERSEY
Wedding Videographer Jersey
Discreet digital and genuine Super 8 wedding films for Jersey and the Channel Islands — from coastal hotels and private estates to castle ceremonies and celebrations by the sea.
THE APPROACH
An island wedding already has its own atmosphere
A Jersey wedding can move from a manor house or hotel to a church, a coastal ceremony or an evening reception with the sea never very far away. The setting already gives the day character, so the film should respond to the people, place and atmosphere rather than forcing it into a standard destination-wedding formula.
Alisby works in an observational way: careful planning before the wedding, a low-profile presence on the day and an edit built around the people, voices and atmosphere that were actually there.
The aim is not to manufacture moments for camera. It is to notice the ones worth keeping.
FILMING JERSEY
Coast, countryside and historic Jersey within easy reach.
The character of the day changes with the setting, so the filming approach needs to change with it.
St Helier & the south coast
Town hotels, historic buildings and the coastline can sit surprisingly close together. A wedding can move from preparations and ceremony to the water without spending half the day travelling between them.
St Brelade, St Ouen & the west
Long beaches, open skies and coastal hotels give the western side of Jersey a different pace. The sea and changing light can become part of the film naturally without turning the wedding into a staged beach shoot.
Gorey, Rozel & the east
Castle views, small bays, country-house settings and quieter coastal roads give the east of the island a more intimate feel. The distances are short enough that a multi-location wedding can still keep its momentum.
FROM THE ARCHIVE
Selected Stories
A broader selection of Alisby wedding films. These examples are included to show the approach and editing style; they are not presented as weddings filmed in Jersey.
AN ISLAND WITHOUT THE LONG-HAUL LOGISTICS
Easy to reach. Easy to return to.
Jersey feels like a destination without requiring long-haul planning. Direct air links connect the island with numerous UK airports, and the flight from mainland Britain is typically around an hour or less. For Alisby, that makes Jersey a straightforward working trip rather than a complicated expedition.
Once on the island, the compact geography helps as well. A venue visit, preparations, ceremony and reception can often be planned without the long transfers that come with many destination weddings. Arriving in good time means the practical details can be dealt with before the cameras are needed.
VENUES & SETTINGS
Some of Jersey’s strongest wedding settings
Jersey packs a surprisingly varied collection of coastal hotels, private country houses, vineyards and historic sites into a small island. These are the sort of places where the setting adds something to the film without needing to dominate it.
The Atlantic Hotel
Set above St Ouen’s Bay in ten acres of gardens, The Atlantic combines ocean views, landscaped grounds, private dining and accommodation in one place. Outdoor ceremonies and smaller indoor celebrations can both keep the coast present without requiring the day to move around the island.
Château La Chaire
In the green valley above Rozel Bay, Château La Chaire is a small country-house hotel that can be taken on an exclusive-use basis. Woodland, the house, terrace and nearby sea give an intimate wedding several distinct settings without losing the feeling of having the place to yourselves.
La Mare Wine Estate
On Jersey’s north coast, La Mare combines vineyards, lawns, meadow and estate buildings, with options for larger outdoor celebrations as well as more intimate ceremonies. It brings a different texture from the island’s hotels and coastal castles while keeping guests in one contained setting.
HOW ALISBY WORKS
Present for the moments. Never running the wedding.
Timings, access and the practical details are agreed before the day. During the wedding, filming stays calm and observational. Professional sound is placed discreetly for the moments where voices matter; compact cameras keep the footprint small.
Afterwards, the footage is edited in-house around pacing, sound, relationships and the small details that give the celebration its personality.
Quiet confidence
01 — Planning with the venue, planner and photographer where useful.
02 — Discreet cameras and professional sound.
03 — Digital films and genuine Super 8 where it suits the commission.
04 — Coverage scaled to the wedding rather than a default large crew.
05 — Jersey, Channel Islands, UK and destination commissions.
EXPERIENCE WITHOUT THE PERFORMANCE
Useful experience is the kind you barely notice on the day
Since 2009
Alisby has worked professionally for well over a decade, from intimate celebrations to large events and destination commissions.
Discretion when required
Alisby has experience working where additional privacy or NDA arrangements are required. It is handled quietly when relevant rather than treated as a separate style of coverage.
Small when possible
Many weddings do not need a large crew. Additional filmmakers, photography or specialist coverage can be added when the scale of the celebration genuinely calls for it.
GENUINE SUPER 8
Analogue because it behaves differently — not because a filter says so
Alisby shoots real Super 8 motion-picture film. It can be woven into a digital wedding film or used for a separate short piece.
The attraction is not fake nostalgia. Super 8 reacts differently to movement, light and exposure. Grain, softness and the occasional imperfection give certain moments a physical quality that clean digital footage cannot reproduce.
For couples who want both, digital coverage preserves the voices and fuller story while Super 8 contributes its own texture.
PLANNING A JERSEY WEDDING FILM
The practical details that make the creative work possible
Island travel is refreshingly simple
Jersey is compact, so preparations, ceremony and reception can often be in different parts of the island without creating hours of dead travel time. The route is still planned in advance so the wedding never waits for the cameras.
Sound first
Beautiful pictures cannot rescue vows or speeches that were never recorded properly. Important spoken moments are treated as part of the story, not an afterthought.
Tides, coast & historic sites
Coastal locations and historic venues can bring access restrictions, changing tides, wind or rules around equipment and drones. Those details are checked early so they do not become something the couple has to manage on the wedding day.
THE COMMISSION
Simple before the wedding. Invisible during it.
01 · Tell us the plan
Send the date, venue or locations and enough detail to understand the celebration.
02 · Talk it through
If it looks like a good fit, the coverage and any Super 8 or multi-day requirements are agreed clearly.
03 · Film the wedding
The day is observed rather than directed, with coordination happening quietly in the background.
04 · Build the film
The edit is shaped around what happened, with attention to voices, timing, music and the personalities in the room.
ON THE DAY
Low-profile coverage, properly coordinated
A wedding already has enough moving parts. Filming should not add another one. Timings, access and sound are planned beforehand so the cameras can stay out of the way when the day begins.
Alisby works alongside the photographer, planner and venue team where useful. When something needs coordinating, it happens quietly in the background rather than becoming part of the wedding.
COLLECTIONS
Coverage shaped around the wedding
Alisby offers digital wedding films, genuine Super 8 and combinations of the two, with additional coverage available where the scale or schedule of the celebration calls for it.
The current collections set out the available options and investment without turning the wedding into a shopping list of camera hours.
If the work feels right for what you are planning, view the current collections or get in touch.
BESPOKE WHEN NEEDED
Not every wedding fits the same shape
Multi-day celebrations, destination travel, additional filmmakers and analogue coverage can be built around the wedding rather than squeezed into a fixed list of hours and extras.
CASTLES & THE COAST
The island can look dramatic without the film becoming dramatic for the sake of it
Mont Orgueil Castle
Above Gorey on Jersey’s east coast, Mont Orgueil brings medieval interiors, terraces and wide views across the water towards France. It is a setting with plenty of visual presence already, so the camera can stay restrained and let the wedding sit naturally within it.
Elizabeth Castle
Just off St Helier, Elizabeth Castle gives a wedding a completely different relationship with the island: fortress walls, sea, causeway and changing tides. It is visually unusual without needing any artificial styling from the film itself.
