ALISBY WEDDING FILMS · ITALY

Wedding Videographer Italy

Discreet digital and genuine Super 8 wedding films across Italy — from Lake Como and Tuscany to the Amalfi Coast, Venice and Puglia.

THE APPROACH

Italy gives every wedding a strong setting. The film does not need to oversell it.

An Italian wedding might take over a villa on Lake Como, stretch across several days in Tuscany or gather everyone above the Amalfi Coast. The setting already gives the day character, so the film should respond to the people, place and atmosphere rather than forcing it into a standard destination-wedding formula.

Alisby works in an observational way: careful planning before the wedding, a low-profile presence on the day and an edit built around the people, voices and atmosphere that were actually there.

The aim is not to manufacture moments for camera. It is to notice the ones worth keeping.

FILMING ITALY

Lakes, cities, countryside and coast all ask for something different.

The character of the day changes with the setting, so the filming approach needs to change with it.

Lake Como

Grand hotels, private villas, boats and steep lakeside roads create a wedding with a very particular rhythm. The strongest films let the lake appear naturally around the celebration rather than repeatedly pulling the couple away from their guests for scenery.

Tuscany

Private estates, vineyards, historic villas and long outdoor dinners lend themselves naturally to wedding weekends. The pace is often slower, which gives the film room for the people, speeches, food and atmosphere rather than only the formal parts of the day.

Amalfi, Venice & Puglia

Cliffside hotels, palazzi, masserie and coastal estates all bring their own practical quirks — boats, narrow streets, heat, late dinners and travel between locations. Those details matter to the plan, but should disappear from the experience once the wedding starts.

Selected Alisby wedding films, including work from Italy — different settings, different celebrations and the same low-profile approach.

ITALY AS A DESTINATION

One of Europe’s easiest places to turn a wedding into a proper few days away.

Italy works brilliantly for weddings where guests are travelling in from several countries. Milan, Florence, Rome, Naples and Venice give access to very different regions, while many of the strongest venues are designed around guests staying for more than a single night.

For Lake Como, Tuscany or the Amalfi Coast, arriving in good time means boats, transfers, venue access and the wider schedule can be understood before the wedding begins. The practical side should be sorted before guests arrive, not become something the couple is thinking about on the day.

ITALIAN WEDDING WEEKENDS

Italy is at its best when the wedding has time to unfold

Italy suits celebrations where guests arrive a day or two early and settle into the place. Welcome drinks, the wedding itself and a slower lunch or pool day afterwards can each add something different to the finished film.

That does not mean filming every hour simply because it is there. Coverage can be widened where the extra time adds something useful — a boat trip on Como, dinner the night before, a Tuscan lunch or the morning after — while still keeping the cameras out of the way.

For international guest lists, this broader approach often makes more sense than trying to squeeze the whole experience into one highlight film built only around the ceremony and speeches.

VENUES & SETTINGS

Some of Italy’s strongest wedding settings

Italy has an extraordinary concentration of villas, private estates and destination hotels where the setting is already doing a great deal of visual work. These are the sort of places where restraint usually produces the better film.

Villa del Balbianello

On Lake Como, Villa del Balbianello is one of Italy’s most recognisable wedding settings, with terraces and gardens directly above the water. Civil and symbolic ceremonies, aperitivi and dinners can all be held on the property, making the villa feel like part of the celebration rather than simply a backdrop.

Il Borro

In Tuscany, Il Borro is a large private estate built around a historic village, gardens, vineyards and several event spaces. With extensive guest accommodation and minimum multi-night stays for events, it naturally suits weddings that take over the estate for two or three days.

Borgo Santo Pietro

Near Siena, Borgo Santo Pietro is a five-star country retreat with gardens, suites, spa and several ceremony settings, including options linked to nearby San Galgano. It works particularly well for smaller destination weddings where guests can stay close to the celebration.

HOW ALISBY WORKS

Present for the moments. Never running the wedding.

Timings, access and the practical details are agreed before the day. During the wedding, filming stays calm and observational. Professional sound is placed discreetly for the moments where voices matter; compact cameras keep the footprint small.

Afterwards, the footage is edited in-house around pacing, sound, relationships and the small details that give the celebration its personality.

Quiet confidence

01 — Planning with the venue, planner and photographer where useful.

02 — Discreet cameras and professional sound.

03 — Digital films and genuine Super 8 where it suits the commission.

04 — Coverage scaled to the wedding rather than a default large crew.

05 — Italy, UK and destination commissions.

EXPERIENCE WITHOUT THE PERFORMANCE

Useful experience is the kind you barely notice on the day

Since 2009

Alisby has worked professionally for well over a decade, from intimate celebrations to large events and destination commissions.

Discretion when required

Alisby has experience working where additional privacy or NDA arrangements are required. It is handled quietly when relevant rather than treated as a separate style of coverage.

Small when possible

Many weddings do not need a large crew. Additional filmmakers, photography or specialist coverage can be added when the scale of the celebration genuinely calls for it.

GENUINE SUPER 8

Analogue because it behaves differently — not because a filter says so

Alisby shoots real Super 8 motion-picture film. It can be woven into a digital wedding film or used for a separate short piece.

The attraction is not fake nostalgia. Super 8 reacts differently to movement, light and exposure. Grain, softness and the occasional imperfection give certain moments a physical quality that clean digital footage cannot reproduce.

For couples who want both, digital coverage preserves the voices and fuller story while Super 8 contributes its own texture.

ON THE DAY

Low-profile coverage, properly coordinated

A wedding already has enough moving parts. Filming should not add another one. Timings, access and sound are planned beforehand so the cameras can stay out of the way when the day begins.

Alisby works alongside the photographer, planner and venue team where useful. When something needs coordinating, it happens quietly in the background rather than becoming part of the wedding.

PLANNING A WEDDING FILM IN ITALY

The practical details that make the creative work possible

Boats, transfers & Italian timings

Lake Como, the Amalfi Coast and Venice can all involve boats or restricted road access, while rural estates may be well away from the nearest city. If the wedding moves between locations, realistic travel is built into the plan rather than discovered on the day.

Sound first

Beautiful pictures cannot rescue vows or speeches that were never recorded properly. Important spoken moments are treated as part of the story, not an afterthought.

Villas, hotels & local teams

Private villas, five-star hotels and historic estates can each have their own rules around access, lighting, drones and supplier movement. Those details are handled with the planner or venue team before they become part of the wedding day.

THE COMMISSION

Simple before the wedding. Invisible during it.

01 · Tell us the plan

Send the date, venue or locations and enough detail to understand the celebration.

02 · Talk it through

If it looks like a good fit, the coverage and any Super 8 or multi-day requirements are agreed clearly.

03 · Film the wedding

The day is observed rather than directed, with coordination happening quietly in the background.

04 · Build the film

The edit is shaped around what happened, with attention to voices, timing, music and the personalities in the room.

COLLECTIONS

Coverage shaped around the wedding

Alisby offers digital wedding films, genuine Super 8 and combinations of the two, with additional coverage available where the scale or schedule of the celebration calls for it.

The current collections set out the available options and investment without turning the wedding into a shopping list of camera hours.

If the work feels right for what you are planning, view the current collections or get in touch.

BESPOKE WHEN NEEDED

Not every wedding fits the same shape

Multi-day celebrations, destination travel, additional filmmakers and analogue coverage can be built around the wedding rather than squeezed into a fixed list of hours and extras.

LAKE COMO, TUSCANY & THE AMALFI COAST

The setting can be spectacular. The film should still feel like the people in it.

Villa d’Este

At Cernobbio on Lake Como, Villa d’Este has the scale and history of a grand hotel while still feeling closely tied to the lake. It suits celebrations where guests are staying together and the wedding can move between formal interiors, gardens and the waterfront.

Caruso, A Belmond Hotel

In Ravello, Caruso overlooks the Amalfi Coast with gardens, terraces and the option of taking over the hotel for a private celebration. Rehearsal dinners, the wedding and the following day can all sit within the same destination without the film having to manufacture a sense of occasion.

ITALY WEDDING FILM FAQ

Questions worth answering before you enquire

Do you film weddings throughout Italy?
Yes. Alisby covers Lake Como, Tuscany, the Amalfi Coast, Venice, Puglia and destination weddings elsewhere in Italy.
Is Italy straightforward for Alisby to travel to?
Yes. Italy’s main wedding regions are well connected from the UK through Milan, Florence, Rome, Naples, Venice and other regional airports. Travel is planned around the celebration so the practical side is dealt with before filming begins.
Do you need to have filmed our venue before?
No. Familiarity can be useful, but it is not essential. Access, light, ceremony restrictions, sound and timings can all be assessed in advance, and the filming plan is adapted to the venue rather than relying on a fixed routine.
Can you cover a full wedding weekend in Italy?
Yes. Welcome drinks, the wedding day and additional events can be covered where the commission calls for it, with the schedule planned so the extra coverage still feels unobtrusive.
Do you work with wedding planners and photographers?
Yes. Timings, access, sound and movement between locations can be coordinated with the planner, photographer and venue team before the wedding.
How intrusive is the filming on the day?
The approach is deliberately low-profile. The important parts of the day are covered properly, but the wedding is not repeatedly stopped or staged for the camera.
Do you offer genuine Super 8 in Italy?
Yes. Alisby uses real Super 8 motion-picture film. It can be included within a digital film or created as a separate short film.
Where can we see the current wedding film collections?
The current collections, coverage options and investment are on the wedding film collections page.
