ALISBY WEDDING FILMS · MANCHESTER & CHESHIRE

Manchester Wedding Videographer

Discreet digital and genuine Super 8 wedding films across Manchester and Cheshire — from city-centre hotels and historic buildings to private estates and full wedding weekends in the countryside.

THE APPROACH

Manchester and Cheshire give you two completely different kinds of wedding

A Manchester wedding might stay entirely in the city centre, while half an hour away the day can look completely different in a Cheshire manor house or private estate. The setting already gives the wedding character, so the film should respond to the people, place and atmosphere rather than forcing both into the same formula.

Alisby works in an observational way: careful planning before the wedding, a low-profile presence on the day and an edit built around the people, voices and atmosphere that were actually there.

The aim is not to manufacture moments for camera. It is to notice the ones worth keeping.

FILMING MANCHESTER & CHESHIRE

City architecture, big hotels and the Cheshire countryside.

The character of the day changes with the setting, so the filming approach needs to change with it.

Manchester city centre

Historic buildings, hotels, restaurants and private event spaces can keep a wedding compact and energetic. The camera needs to work quickly around streets, lifts, guests and tight schedules without turning the city into a backdrop for endless posed shots.

Knutsford, Alderley Edge & Prestbury

South of Manchester, the landscape shifts into country hotels, private houses and larger estates. Weddings here often keep much of the celebration in one place, allowing the film to move naturally from preparations through dinner and the evening.

Wider Cheshire

Stately homes, lakeside venues, castles and exclusive-use properties create another scale again. The practical side can involve longer drives and larger supplier teams, but the finished film should still feel personal rather than like coverage of an event production.

CITY OR COUNTRYSIDE

Manchester makes the city easy. Cheshire makes the weekend easy.

Manchester works well for guests arriving from around the UK or overseas, with the airport, rail links and city hotels making a central celebration straightforward. Move into Cheshire and the same guest list can settle into a country hotel or private estate for a much more self-contained weekend.

Whichever version you are planning, the travel, parking, loading and venue access are worked out before the wedding begins. Those details matter to the filmmaker; they should not become something the couple spends the day thinking about.

A WEDDING WITH A BIT OF ROOM AROUND IT

Not every celebration needs to begin with the ceremony and end with the last dance

When guests are staying nearby, welcome drinks, the wedding itself and a slower breakfast or lunch the following day can each add something different to the finished film. That is particularly useful for larger Cheshire celebrations or couples bringing people in from overseas.

That does not mean filming every hour simply because it is there. Coverage can be widened where the extra time gives the story something useful — dinner the night before, guests arriving, a late party or the morning after — while still keeping the cameras out of the way.

For larger guest lists and multi-day celebrations, that broader approach often makes more sense than squeezing the whole experience into a film built only around the ceremony and speeches.

VENUES & SETTINGS

Some of Manchester and Cheshire’s strongest wedding settings

Manchester and Cheshire offer a useful mix of city-centre hotels, exclusive-use properties and large country estates. These are the sort of places where the setting already has character, so restraint usually produces the better film.

Stock Exchange Hotel

In the centre of Manchester, Stock Exchange Hotel offers intimate weddings through to exclusive hotel takeovers, with 39 rooms and suites and the restored former trading floor at the heart of the celebration. It suits couples who want the city outside but the wedding to feel private once everyone is through the door.

Manchester Hall

Behind its Portland-stone façade, Manchester Hall has eleven different event spaces, from smaller panelled rooms to large ballrooms, with civil ceremonies licensed throughout the building. It works particularly well for a wedding that wants to stay in one city-centre venue without every part of the day looking the same.

Fairmont Cheshire, The Mere

Near Knutsford, Fairmont Cheshire, The Mere combines lakeside grounds, luxury accommodation and spaces ranging from smaller celebrations to a Grand Ballroom for very large weddings. It gives the page a useful bridge between Manchester access and a full-scale Cheshire destination weekend.

HOW ALISBY WORKS

Present for the moments. Never running the wedding.

Timings, access and the practical details are agreed before the day. During the wedding, filming stays calm and observational. Professional sound is placed discreetly for the moments where voices matter; compact cameras keep the footprint small.

Afterwards, the footage is edited in-house around pacing, sound, relationships and the small details that give the celebration its personality.

Quiet confidence

01 — Planning with the venue, planner and photographer where useful.

02 — Discreet cameras and professional sound.

03 — Digital films and genuine Super 8 where it suits the commission.

04 — Coverage scaled to the wedding rather than a default large crew.

05 — Manchester, Cheshire, UK and destination commissions.

EXPERIENCE WITHOUT THE PERFORMANCE

Useful experience is the kind you barely notice on the day

Since 2009

Alisby has worked professionally for well over a decade, from intimate celebrations to large events and destination commissions.

Discretion when required

Alisby has experience working where additional privacy or NDA arrangements are required. It is handled quietly when relevant rather than treated as a separate style of coverage.

Small when possible

Many weddings do not need a large crew. Additional filmmakers, photography or specialist coverage can be added when the scale of the celebration genuinely calls for it.

GENUINE SUPER 8

Analogue because it behaves differently — not because a filter says so

Alisby shoots real Super 8 motion-picture film. It can be woven into a digital wedding film or used for a separate short piece.

The attraction is not fake nostalgia. Super 8 reacts differently to movement, light and exposure. Grain, softness and the occasional imperfection give certain moments a physical quality that clean digital footage cannot reproduce.

For couples who want both, digital coverage preserves the voices and fuller story while Super 8 contributes its own texture.

ON THE DAY

Low-profile coverage, properly coordinated

A wedding already has enough moving parts. Filming should not add another one. Timings, access and sound are planned beforehand so the cameras can stay out of the way when the day begins.

Alisby works alongside the photographer, planner and venue team where useful. When something needs coordinating, it happens quietly in the background rather than becoming part of the wedding.

PLANNING A MANCHESTER WEDDING FILM

The practical details that make the creative work possible

City traffic and country roads both need real timings

A short distance across central Manchester can take longer than expected, while a Cheshire church and reception may be several rural roads apart. If the wedding uses more than one location, realistic travel is built into the plan rather than discovered on the day.

The bits you’ll want to hear again

Vows, speeches, laughter and the odd comment nobody realised had been picked up can become some of the best parts of the film. The soundtrack comes from the wedding itself, not just the music added afterwards.

Hotels, estates & supplier access

City hotels, exclusive-use houses and large estates all have different arrangements for loading, parking, ceremonies, sound and supplier movement. Those details are handled with the planner or venue team before they become part of the wedding day.

THE COMMISSION

Simple before the wedding. Invisible during it.

01 · Tell us the plan

Send the date, venue or locations and enough detail to understand the celebration.

02 · Talk it through

If it looks like a good fit, the coverage and any Super 8 or multi-day requirements are agreed clearly.

03 · Film the wedding

The day is observed rather than directed, with coordination happening quietly in the background.

04 · Build the film

The edit is shaped around what happened, with attention to voices, timing, music and the personalities in the room.

COLLECTIONS

Coverage shaped around the wedding

Alisby offers digital wedding films, genuine Super 8 and combinations of the two, with additional coverage available where the scale or schedule of the celebration calls for it.

The current collections set out the available options and investment without turning the wedding into a shopping list of camera hours.

If the work feels right for what you are planning, view the current collections or get in touch.

BESPOKE WHEN NEEDED

Not every wedding fits the same shape

Multi-day celebrations, destination travel, additional filmmakers and analogue coverage can be built around the wedding rather than squeezed into a fixed list of hours and extras.

FURTHER INTO CHESHIRE

Big houses work best when the wedding still feels personal

Delamere Manor

Delamere Manor is an exclusive-use Cheshire venue set within more than 100 acres, with guest bedrooms, indoor and outdoor ceremony spaces and a retractable-roof courtyard. It is designed for the sort of wedding where the property can carry preparations, ceremony, dinner and the party without the day feeling fragmented.

Capesthorne Hall

Capesthorne Hall offers exclusive-use weddings across the Hall and Lakeside, with formal rooms, terraces, gardens and three lakes set within 100 acres. It can move from a traditional ceremony and drinks reception into a much larger evening without requiring the film to manufacture that change of pace.

MANCHESTER WEDDING FILM FAQ

Questions worth answering before you enquire

Do you film weddings throughout Manchester and Cheshire?
Yes. Alisby covers central Manchester, Greater Manchester and weddings throughout Cheshire, including Knutsford, Alderley Edge, Prestbury, Macclesfield and the wider county.
Can you cover a city ceremony and a reception elsewhere?
Yes. Where preparations, ceremony and reception are separate, the schedule is reviewed in advance so city traffic, parking and travel can be planned without rushing the wedding or missing the parts in between.
Do you need to have filmed our venue before?
No. Familiarity can be useful, but it is not essential. Access, light, ceremony restrictions, sound and timings can all be assessed in advance, and the filming plan is adapted to the venue rather than relying on a fixed routine.
Can you cover a full Cheshire wedding weekend?
Yes. Welcome drinks, the wedding day and additional events can be covered where the commission calls for it, with the schedule planned so the extra coverage still feels unobtrusive.
Do you work with wedding planners and photographers?
Yes. Timings, access, sound and movement between locations can be coordinated with the planner, photographer and venue team before the wedding.
How intrusive is the filming on the day?
The approach is deliberately low-profile. The important parts of the day are covered properly, but the wedding is not repeatedly stopped or staged for the camera.
Do you offer genuine Super 8 in Manchester?
Yes. Alisby uses real Super 8 motion-picture film. It can be included within a digital film or created as a separate short film.
Where can we see the current wedding film collections?
The current collections, coverage options and investment are on the wedding film collections page.
